Dear Carson,

It's me Amy, again. I am thoroughly enjoying the podcast and book together.

Are you planning another course this year? I just don't know what I'll do with myself after I'm finished with this. You're truly gifted!

Thank you.

Native of California. Still live in the San Fernando Valley. Married in 1991 to my childhood sweetheart. Had my daughter in 1995 and knew I had to bring God back into my life. Converted to Catholicism in 1997. Had my son in 1998.
Thank you for these podcasts. I am a switchboard operator for a major university and listen whilst I answer phones. I plan on getting the book early next year and listening all over again!

Hi, my name is Scott Wilmot and I am writing this from Doha, Qatar. I live here with my wife Katita and 2 of my children, John and Isabelle. My two other children, Patrick and Aelish, attend Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. Our Parish here in Qatar is Our Lady of the Rosary and we are excited to be building the first Catholic Church in this country since the 7th century - how awesome is that!! Thank you Carson for these podcasts they are very informative and very entertaining. I hope to buy Mr. Hahn's book this summer when I return to the USA for holiday and look forward to reading the book and going through the podcasts again. May God continue to bless you abundantly.

I'm Christine, and I live in Virginia. Any other personal stuff that I am willing to reveal can probably be found at my blog. :) Hubby started this course at a local parish, and then someone pointed out the podcast a couple of weeks into his course. (They started in January.) I can't take the class with him because someone has to put Big Girl and Little Girl into bed and stay with them - the authorities are so picky about leaving your 8 and 5 year olds at home alone! ;)

I am so grateful for this podcast. Every week, I listen to the chapter Hubby is doing, and I write all over the margins of my Bible. I am constantly having to remind myself not to yell, "OH, WOW!" while I sit in the library while the kids are at story time. :)

Hi My name is Richard Coffey. I live in St. Bernard, La, with my wife Janet and we have two sons. The podcast and textbook really present the principles and insight to read the Scriptures with understanding. I also missed the Chapter 1 recording if there is any way to re-present it. All my other podcasts have taken a back seat for now. Thanks.

A lifetime Catholic from Coeur d'Alene Idaho. Father of 6 and really getting into the podcast. I convert them to MP3 and put them on a CD that plays in my car on the ride home from work.

I love the connections you make between the Old and New Testament and the etymology.

Thanks for all the effort.

I am a cradle Catholic from Brooklyn Park, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis). I grew up a practicing, though uninformed, Catholic in a small town on the Upper Michigan/Wisconsin border.

After college I moved to the Minneapolis area, where for the first time in my life I heard a priest talking about something called "transubstantiation." That little wafer is Jesus?! After doing some additional research, I confirmed that we Catholics really do believe that, and many other things -- such as the belief that Jesus founded the Catholic Church.

Well after six years of apologetics study, I am now in the midst of taking the Great Adventure Bible Timeline, which has really helped round out my other studies. I am very happy to be listening to the Understanding the Scriptures podcast, as it complements the Great Adventure study.

God bless,
Christopher

P.S. Don't forget to re-record Chapter One...

Hi, another convert. It will be four years this Easter. I am from Chattanooga TN Your last podcast you said Jesus knew Isaiah because he opened to the passage about the Gospel. Whats cool is that Isaiah also knew Jesus. In John 12 Jesus refers to their meeting. 38That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? 39Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, 40He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. 41These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him. (Isa 6:1ff)

My name is Jeff and I live in Belton, TX. For a couple of years now I have been part of a men's bible stucy group at Christ the King parish in Belton. A couple of guys brought in the Understanding the Scriptures book one day. I bought a copy right away. At about the same time, I bought an iPod. I use it mostly to listen to when I am jogging.

While looking at podcasts on iTunes, I couldn't believe it when I saw this course! It has been a wonderful blessing in my quest to know God and grow closer to him - especially during Lent!

I have been married for almost 27 years and have twin sons that are 19 years old.

Born and raised in New Jersey, currently living in the Princeton area. I'm 25, and I'm getting married in June. I was brought up Catholic, and although I never really "lost" my faith, I certainly misplaced it off and on, especially during my college years.

Since moving to the Princeton area, I've gotten involved in my parish and my faith has been renewed and invigorated. I'm a Lector, I'm on the RCIA team, I attend a handful of Bible Studies (at my parish and elsewhere -- including listening weekly to this one), and I blog on a regular basis about my faith.

I work as a software developer, which has helped me build some online Scripture tools for my personal study. I participate in a couple online Christian forums, sometimes doing apologetics, sometimes just sharing my faith and my love for the liturgy. I feel called to the permanent diaconate, so perhaps in a couple decades my family will be prepared for me to make that committment.

But the glory is all God's.

My name is Carson Weber, and I host the Understanding the Scriptures podcast... When we did the podcast, my beautiful wife (Rebecca) and I resided in Brenham, Texas where I did adult faith formation on the parish level at St. Mary Catholic Church (~1,000 families). Brenham is about an hour west of Houston, Texas and an hour and a half east of Austin, Texas. It's the home of the Blue Bell ice cream factory and a great place to visit if you like wildflowers in the Spring.

In September of '07, we moved to Sacramento, California where I currently serve Bishop William Weigand as the Director of Evangelization for the Diocese of Sacramento. Part of the reason for our move was the announcement of Rebecca's pregnancy with our first child, Thérèse Mary Grace. The parish salary wouldn't support Rebecca as a stay-at-home mother, and her family lives in Sacramento as well as San Francisco. So, God opened wide the doors for us to make the move.
